Since its establishment in 2006, the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC) has been working closely with community partners and schools to further enthuse students in the learning of Malay and to develop in them an abiding interest in the language, literature and culture beyond the classrooms.
The MLLPC booth will be showcasing the Perkasa Warisan Camp 2018, a programme which aims to deepen the language and cultural heritage of the Malays. The Perkasa Warisan Camp 2018 is a product of school-community partnership. This collaborative effort between the People’s Association Malay Activity Executive Committees (MESRA) and the Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Workgroup was supported by MLLPC and NParks.
Through the Perkasa Warisan programme, schools and key community partners collaborate to complement Malay Language learning, through explicit reference to the language and cultural components of the Malay Language curriculum. Through the immersive and authentic activities on Malay gastronomy, pupils deepen their knowledge of Malay language and cultural heritage.
