SYNOPSIS

In the bid to improve young children’s interest in learning Chinese, PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Hong Kah North Blk 748 seeks to create a relaxed environment which allows them to actively participate and explore Chinese through fun ways. One such example is through the use of enjoyable and meaningful games. Some popular teaching games include “Roulette Games” and “Bead Games”. Early Childhood research has proven that children’s learning should be differentiated. In order to scaffold their learning, we have designed games at two different levels to suit the varying abilities of children. In group play, the games provide opportunity for children to negotiate and encourage them to speak in Chinese to one another. This helps to improve their language and interpersonal skills, as well as to solve problems that may arise during group play. This gradually builds their confidence and interest in speaking Chinese.
