SPEAKERS’ PROFILE

Mr Wee Khang Ping is a Curriculum Planning Officer of the Curriculum Planning and Development Division at MOE HQ. His scope of work focuses on the planning and development of the 2015 Primary School Chinese Language Curriculum, as well as the Starlight Literacy Chinese Language Curriculum used in all MOE Kindergartens. Khang Ping also provides consultation to schools on areas related to the different curricula. These include implementation of the curricula and the professional development of teachers. He is also a member of the secretariat for the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) Pre-school Group. He has 13 years of experience in the Education Service.

Dr Sun He is a research scientist at the Centre for Research in Child Development at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her academic interests include: 1) effective early bilingual education and development, in particular, children’s early Mother Tongue Language teaching and learning; and 2) individual differences in early bilingual/second language and literacy development from cognitive and environmental perspectives. She has published her work in renowned journals, such as Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, Applied Psycholinguistics, and the International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism. Dr Sun received her Ph.D. from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

Mdm Wei Xiurong graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from Sun Yat-sen University and a Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education from SEED Institute (formerly RTRC Asia Pte Ltd). She has 10 years of teaching experience at the pre-school level as a Chinese Language (CL) teacher and is presently a Senior Teacher at MOE Kindergarten @ Punggol Cove. She is a proud recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award. Mdm Wei encourages children to ask questions, explore and cooperate, in order to improve their ability to solve problems and let them use CL in a relaxed environment.

Ms Luo Yan Yan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Early Childhood Education from the Singapore University of Social Sciences. She has 12 years of teaching experience in the early childhood sector. She is currently a Chinese teacher with My First Skool @ Choa Chu Kang Blk 212. She was also awarded the Outstanding Pre-school Mother Tongue Language Teacher Award in 2017.

主讲者简介

王康斌老师是教育部课程规划与发展司的的课程规划员。他目前负责“2015年小学华文课程”和教育部幼儿园“繁星华文课程”的规划与编写工作。王老师也为学校提供咨询,内容涉及课程实施与教师专业发展等。此外,他也是推广华文学习委员会学前组的秘书,负责推展学前幼儿学习华文华语的计划。王老师从事教育工作至今已有13年。

孙鹤博士目前就职于南洋理工大学国立教育学院,主要研究儿童双语发展和教育。孙博士的研究成果见刊于业内颇具影响力的杂志,如双语:语言与认知、应用心理语言学、双语教育和双语语言国际杂志等。孙博士获得荷兰格罗宁根大学博士学位。

魏秀蓉老师毕业于中山大学会计管理大学本科学士学位,后于RTRC (现为新苗学院)考获学前教育大专文凭。魏老师有十多年学前华文教师的教学经验,现任新加坡教育部幼儿园@湾景高级华文老师。她荣获2016年”杰出学前母语教师奖”。魏秀蓉老师鼓励幼儿在学习中提问、探索、合作,提高幼儿解决问题的能力,让他们在轻松的环境中使用华语。

罗妍妍老师获得新加坡新跃大学学前华文教育学士文凭。她加入幼教行业12年,现任职于职总优儿学府属下的幼乐园(蔡厝港第212座),担任学前华文教师。她曾荣获2017年由新加坡推广华文学习委员会颁发的“杰出学前华文教师” 特优奖。

SHARING SYNOPSIS

Interactive book-reading is a reading strategy widely used in pre-school classrooms and at home. Storybooks contain vocabulary five times more sophisticated than those used in normal conversations. During reading, teachers and parents will engage in discussions with children. Their questions and comments are crucial in helping children develop language skills. How can we integrate the different levels of questioning and comments into our daily practice effectively? In this panel discussion, speakers will provide some authentic examples from the linguistic corpus to illustrate how parents and teachers can raise questions and comments based on pre-schoolers’ language proficiency and motivate the children to develop a love for reading.

儿童故事书所使用的词语比日常会话要复杂超过5倍,因此,共享式阅读广泛应用于家庭和课堂。老师和家长在阅读中的提问和点评对提升孩子的识字与阅读能力起至关重要的作用。
