SPEAKER’S PROFILE

Dr Kartini Anwar is a lecturer in the Malay Language Division of the Asian Languages & Cultures Academic Group, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. She teaches subjects on Malay literature such as Classical and Modern Literature, Indonesian Literature, Children’s and Adolescent’s Literature, Literary Criticism, Dramatisation of Literary Texts and The Teaching of Literature. She has presented a number of academic papers at regional and international conferences. Dr Kartini is also involved in academic and literary editorial works and serves in the judging panel of a number of literary awards.

PROFIL PENCERAMAH

Dr Kartini Anwar bertugas sebagai pensyarah di Jabatan Bahasa dan Kebudayaan Melayu, Institut Pendidikan Nasional (NIE), Universiti Teknologi Nanyang, Singapura. Beliau mengajar kursus-kursus seperti Sastera Melayu Tradisional, Sastera Melayu/Indonesia Moden, Sastera Kanon, Teori Kritikan Sastera, Pendramatisan Teks Sastera, Sastera Kanak-kanak & Remaja dan Pengajaran Sastera Melayu. Beliau banyak membentangkan kertas persidangan tentang kesusasteraan dan sebahagiannya telah diterbitkan dalam jurnal tempatan dan antarabangsa. Dr Kartini juga terlibat dengan tugas penyuntingan dan menjadi anggota panel juri untuk beberapa anugerah persuratan.

SHARING SYNOPSIS

The relationship between emotional processes and how children learn has always been an imperative focus in shaping a child’s life. Research has argued that emotions can facilitate or impede the well-being and overall achievement of a child. This session explores the potential of children’s literature as a means to cultivate emotional literacy. The presenter will share some ideas and strategies that can be used to promote emotional competencies among children and parents, while engaging their children in the learning of Mother Tongue Languages.

SINOPSIS

Hubungan antara proses emosi dan pembelajaran kanak-kanak selalu menjadi tumpuan kehidupan dan tumbesaran kanak-kanak. Kajian menunjukkan bahawa emosi boleh memudahkan atau menghalang kesejahteraan dan pencapaian keseluruhan kanak-kanak. Sesi ini meneroka potensi sastera kanak-kanak sebagai wadah untuk memupuk celik emosi. Dr Kartini akan berkongsi idea dan strategi yang boleh digunakan untuk menggalak kecekapan emosi, pembangunan nilai serta penguasaan bahasa Melayu melalui sastera kanak-kanak.
