SHARING SYNOPSIS

In today’s society, it is difficult to teach and encourage children to use their Mother Tongue Language (MTL). English has traditionally been given more emphasis both in school and in the corporate world. It is also deemed to be more important for communication in business, economy and politics.

Many parents do not emphasise the importance of MTL to their children. The influence of other languages is inevitable through mass media. However, parents and teachers should consciously uphold the Malay language as their mother tongue to ensure the continuity of the language.

This session will highlight strategies such as how parents can inculcate the love and interest of children to use their mother tongue, how teachers can help to motivate children in schools to be proud of the language and finally, what parents and teachers can do to motivate children to use the language if they do not wish to do so.

SINOPSIS
