SPEAKER’S PROFILE

Mdm Jumaini Ariff is a children’s book author and a prominent storyteller in the Singapore literary scene. She is well-known for her uniquely crafted persona “Nek Selampit” and has participated in numerous national campaigns and international storytelling performances.

In 2015, Mdm Jumaini founded Storyscribblers, a literary-based company which provides high quality, fun and engaging language programmes based on the books she authored. Always striving to inspire fellow pre-school educators, Mdm Jumaini conducts storytelling skills training workshops which are accredited by the Early Childhood Development Authority (ECDA) and supported by SkillsFuture Singapore. In 2017, Mdm Jumaini was appointed as a Malay Language Ambassador. She is currently working with various institutions to revive interest towards Malay amongst pre-school and primary school children.

PROFIL PENCERAMAH

Puan Jumaini Ariff merupakan penulis buku kanak-kanak dan seorang pencerita terkenal di Singapura. Beliau menjayakan watak Nek Selampit; seorang pelipur lara dan telah melibatkan diri dalam pelbagai kempen- kempen nasional dan festival bercerita antarabangsa.

Pada tahun 2015, Puan Jumaini menubuhkan Storyscribblers, sebuah syarikat persuratan yang menghasilkan program-program bahasa yang menarik dan berkualiti tinggi berdasarkan buku-buku yang ditulisnya. Untuk menarik minat para pendidik prasekolah, beliau menganjurkan bengkel-bengkel kemahiran bercerita yang diiktiraf oleh Agensi Pembangunan Awal Kanak-Kanak (ECDA) dan SkillsFuture Singapura. Pada tahun 2017, Puan Jumaini telah dilantik sebagai Duta Bahasa dan kini sedang bekerjasama dengan pelbagai institusi untuk melestarikan penggunaan bahasa Melayu di peringkat prasekolah dan sekolah rendah.

SHARING SYNOPSIS

As a storyteller and an educator, Mdm Jumaini loves to share stories and use them to enrich young children’s experiences. Mdm Jumaini strongly believes that parents can be empowered to harness the hidden gems in stories and storybooks which can be used as a window to encourage children to discover day-to-day wonders and beyond.

In this session, Mdm Jumaini will be sharing simple storytelling and story-reading tips for parents to use during storytelling. Participants will also get to view story samples and tease out the themes and potential activities for the whole family to explore together.

SINOPSIS

Sebagai seorang pencerita dan pendidik, Puan Jumaini suka sekali berkongsi cerita dan menggunakannya untuk memperkaya pengalaman kanak-kanak. Puan Jumaini yakin bahawa ibu bapa boleh memperkasa diri untuk mencari peluang pembelajaran yang tersembunyi dalam cerita dan buku cerita. Peluang seperti ini boleh digunakan sebagai ‘jendela’ untuk diterokai oleh kanak-kanak tentang kehidupan harian dan keajaiban dunia.

Dalam sesi ini, Puan Jumaini akan berkongsi teknik-tenik bercerita dan membaca cerita yang mudah untuk kegunaan ibu bapa. Para peserta juga akan dapat melihat beberapa contoh cerita dan cuba mencungkil tema-tema dan aktiviti-aktiviti yang berpotensi untuk seluruh keluarga meneroka bersama.
